Registered Apprenticeship helps Bosch Rexroth maintain agility.

Has Registered Apprenticeship helped your business?

Yes. It has given us the opportunity for a structured career ladder for our CNA/CMA’s, giving them more confidence, knowledge and skills.  It has also given us widespread public relations as a quality facility.

~ Julie Kuestersteffen, Brewster Place, Topeka, KS

Registered Apprenticeship has provided us with better, safety minded employees.  We have increased our retention and developed a more productive staff.

~ Clay Kubicek, Crossland Construction, Columbus, KS

All of my employees are products of the Wichita JATC program. When I get an employee that is either in the apprentice program, or a graduate of the program, I know what that training entails, and therefore I know exactly what I should be able to expect from them. If I find that an employee is in need of additional training for whatever reason, I can get that training at the WEJATC center.

~ Phil Nelson, Nelson Electric, Goddard, KS

Yes, the WEJATC has provided Linder with qualified trainees who have eventually become Journeyman wiremen.  It has provided a well rounded and educated workforce.

~ Larry Clark, Linder and Associates, Wichita, KS

We have been able to retain employees longer.  Having teachers educated in the field also helps us draw in perspective families.

~ Lori Toss, NorthRidge Academy, Wichita, KS

Providing educational opportunities for staff has been an enormous help in retaining staff. It has enabled and empowered teaching assistances to stretch and grow their minds. By doing this they have become highly qualified to work with young children and their families.

~ Chris Baird, Reno County Head Start, Hutchinson, KS

What makes the Registered Apprenticeship program successful for you?

I feel that our program is successful because we combine the on-the-job 8,000 hours with 900 hours of related classroom instruction.  Most Vo-Tech do 99% classroom work with very little on-the-job training.

                                           ~ Jim Maus, Topeka IBEW

We believe that through our Registered Apprenticeship training programs our bottom line will be increased exponentially and customer service and satisfaction will continue to improve.  Most importantly, our employees and their families will enjoy a higher standard of living through increased wages and incentives, and greater personal knowledge and growth.  As we continue with our learning, it becomes a win-win for our company, our customers, our employees and their families.

~ Fred Willich, High Tech Interiors, Manhattan, KS

Instead of directly hiring helpers off the street, we are getting apprentices that have a commitment to the school and the trade.  The knowledge gained at the school also enhances their on the job training and performance.

~ Brad Bishop, Shelley Electric, Wichita, KS

Availability of trained and skilled workers has been and will continue to be one of the businesses major challenges in the future.  We believe the Apprenticeship program will be one of the assets available to Linder to set us apart from the competition.

~ Larry Clark, Linder and Associates, Wichita, KS

It is a program that is well designed with little confusion!

~ Kasey Kile, Manhattan Daycare, Manhattan, KS

It supports the dreams and goals of people who desire to further their education and by doing so gain marketable work skills.  Our program has benefitted from this professional and personal growth.

~ Chris Baird, Reno County Head Start, Hutchinson, KS

The standard in which they hold their apprentices and mentors hold them accountable to the job and the program.

~ Andrea Austin, YMCA of Greater Kansas City

Has Registered Apprenticeship Reduced your turnover rate?

The percentage of workers that stay in the industry after successfully completing the apprenticeship program has been around 95%.  Prior to utilizing Registered Apprenticeship the average was closer to 50%.

~ Bill Marsh, Greater Kansas City Labors

I think the Registered Apprenticeship has been helpful in maintaining a low turnover rate.  It demonstrates the employer’s commitment, and fosters employee loyalty.

~ Monty Peterson, Brooks Yamaha, Manhattan, KS

Turnover is based more on market forces, however, the fact that the apprentices receive a well rounded electrical education makes them a more rounded employee.  This allows me to do more diverse work with the same employees, essentially reducing turnover.

~ Phil Nelson, Nelson Electric,  Goddard, KS

I think so. It offers a goal for current employees and has been influential in recruitment.

~ Kasey Kile, Manhattan Daycare, Manhattan, KS

Would you recommend Registered Apprenticeship to others?

Yes.  I don’t know how other companies or crafts make it in business without this.  It helps us attract new employees since they know they will be getting a certificate at the end that hey can use anywhere in the U.S.

~ Mark Bayless, Kansas Building Systems, Topeka, KS

Definitely! For any company or industry to remain competitive in the local or even the global market it must produce a better product or at least a product as good as its competitors. The key to this goal has always and will always be a well trained workforce.

~ Bill Marsh, Great Kansas City Labors

 Absolutely!

~ Phil Nelson, Nelson Electric, Goddard, K

The Apprenticeship program provides hope and supports success.  There is no feeling like the feeling you get from your personal goals being met. ECAAP empowers people to experience professional and personal success.
