Dislocated Worker Grant

Employers … during lean budget times, money for training is often the first thing to go, but the demand for skilled workers doesn’t disappear. For a limited time only, up to $1750 per year in training dollars is available for employers hiring eligible job seekers through the local workforce centers. The Kansas Registered Apprenticeship program is your solution to creating the skilled workforce you need.

Registered Apprenticeship is a unique training system that combines supervised, on-the-job learning with related technical instruction and is completely industry driven. As the employer, you design a training program based on your needs and train employees at your worksite using your own company equipment. Your skilled workforce serves as mentors to apprentices, passing along years of knowledge and experience.  The result is a workforce ready to go to work and be productive for you.

Funding opportunities are limited and are first come first served so act now!

The grant’s focus is to return dislocated workers to the workforce by assisting in the workers' acquisition of new skill sets through Registered Apprenticeship in one of two high-growth areas: advanced manufacturing and energy.

To be eligible for grant funded related technical instruction an apprentice must

  1. Be registered at a local workforce center
  2. Be identified as a dislocated worker at the local workforce center
  3. Be employed by a recognized sponsor/employer in either the advanced manufacturing or energy field
  4. Enter into the sponsor/employer’s Registered Apprenticeship Program

Employees seeking a Registered Apprenticeship can contact their local workforce center.
